Mireval

Presentation

Located halfway between Montpellier and Sète, between the Massif de la Gardiole, the Mediterranean Sea and the lagoons, the municipality of Mireval covers an area of 11 km² and today has 3,331 inhabitants... Its economic activity is essentially based on the cultivation of vines, whose Muscat wine production has held the AOC designation since 1959.

Mireval was fortified in the 12th century by the Counts Guilhems of Montpellier, Rabelais came in its time to taste its famous Muscat ! This charming village, with its many bucolic paths between the Massif de la Gardiole and the Mediterranean Sea, also offers a remarkable diversity of landscapes. The karst backwater of the "Creux de Miège", a geological curiosity now protected, offers in particular a very interesting faunistic and floristic richness.
